Linklaters LLP
London, UK
Our relationship with Linklaters spans over 35 years. During this time we have successfully delivered over 70 MEP, Due Diligence and Facilities Engineering (FE) projects for them.
The recent major refurbishment of Linklaters’ global headquarters at One Silk Street was significant for ChapmanBDSP as we designed the original fit-out in the late 90’s. This recent phased refurbishment included a new 400 seat staff restaurant, large auditorium, gym as well as a health and well being suite.
A key challenge was that the building had to remain in full occupation for the duration of the construction. To ensure minimal disruption, we took a flexible approach and worked with the steering group to keep all parties informed. A key achievement was the replacement of chilled water risers without any interruption to service in the normal working week. A new lighting control system was designed to provide improved environment with a seven year repayment period through energy savings. A new control strategy was developed linking fan coils to the lighting control and included absence detection, increasing set points for energy savings when unoccupied.
We have been able to deliver an overall reduction in energy usage of 35%. At the completion of the project, Linklaters achieved a BREEAM In Use rating of ‘Excellent’.
