Park Plaza Hotel, Battersea Power Station
London, UK
A key part of phase three of the regeneration of the Battersea site has been designed by Gehry Partners and Foster + Partners and includes new homes and a new high street, known as The Electric Boulevard, in an area to the south of the landmark Battersea Power Station.
As well as being involved with the overall MEP design for Phase 3, chapmanbdsp is working with architects Dexter Moren and interior designers Halsion to design the fit out of the 164 key hotel to the requirements of Park Plaza.
In addition to the guest rooms distributed over 15 floors, facilities include a roof-top swimming pool, bars, restaurants, spa, gym and function rooms.
Heating and cooling requirements for the hotel will met by the district systems served from the site wide energy centre.
Prefabricated bathroom pods are being installed in the guest rooms to improve quality and reduce the programme.
The hotel is being designed to achieve a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating.
Electric Boulevard will be the main gateway to the 42-acre development, connecting the Northern Line Extension station with the Power Station.
The phase includes more than 1,200 apartments in a range of sizes and styles in two zones and over 15 floors on either side of the boulevard, as well as a hotel, retail spaces, restaurants and a 3 level car park beneath the whole development.
